IND-310 STUDIO I - Fall 2024
RESIDENTIAL LOFT DESIGN
This project is a live-work loft designed for a calm, performance-driven athletic trainer. Situated in downtown Los Angeles, the space synthesizes functional work areas, client-facing zones, and private living amenities into a cohesive, compact loft. The layout includes a guest waiting area, a fully integrated kitchen and dining zone, a laundry room, a dedicated working office, and an outdoor patio for relaxation, all organized through careful spatial analysis and zoning.

Reflected Ceiling Plans:
The RCP shows how I layered ceiling heights, lighting, and HVAC systems to reinforce each zone’s function, from task lighting in the office to ambient fixtures on the patio. It reflects both the technical coordination and the expressive tone of the loft’s design.

This dramatic, out‑of‑scale element of surprise design in the high‑end loft reflects my client’s bold work ethic. I embedded a surround sound speaker system throughout the space, pairing voice activated speakers with voice controlled lighting to create a dynamic, immersive environment. The concept is inspired by the client’s life as an athletic trainer;  he wanted something showy and large-scale, yet functional and engineered, to embody both his performance-driven career and his confident personality. In this design, the theatrical and the practical converge to produce a space that feels both powerful and intentionally crafted.
